What Is Included in Dental Care?
By Dr. Eastwood – Summerbrook Dental & Implants, Fort Worth, TX

Patients often ask me, “What is included in dental care?” Dental care covers everything needed to keep your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy. It includes prevention, treatment, cosmetic improvements, and long-term maintenance. At Summerbrook Dental & Implants, I focus on complete care so patients can get almost all their needs met in one office.

The first part of dental care is prevention. This includes regular cleanings, exams, and X-rays. These visits help remove plaque, check for cavities, and watch for early signs of gum disease or bite problems. Preventive care is important because it protects your smile and keeps small issues from turning into bigger ones. Most people benefit from coming in every six months.

Dental care also includes restorative treatments, which fix damaged or decayed teeth. If you have a cavity, we use a tooth-colored filling to repair it. If a tooth is cracked or weak, a crown may be needed. Some teeth may require root canals to remove infection, and if a tooth cannot be saved, a simple extraction may be necessary. Restorative care helps you chew comfortably and prevents problems from getting worse.

Another important part of dental care is gum treatment. Healthy gums are essential for keeping your teeth stable. Early gum disease can be treated with deep cleanings or gum therapy to remove bacteria below the gumline. Taking care of your gums helps protect the bone that supports your teeth.

Dental care also includes tooth replacement options. If you are missing one or more teeth, options like bridges, dentures, or dental implants can restore your smile. I also offer advanced treatments such as bone grafting, sinus lifts, snap-in dentures, full-mouth implants, and immediate implants, all in-house for convenience and consistency.

Cosmetic care is part of dental care too. This may include whitening, bonding, veneers, or reshaping the gums to help improve the look of your smile.

And through all of this, my office remains a no judgment zone. Many patients come in nervous or embarrassed, but my goal is always to help you move forward confidently.

So, dental care includes prevention, repair, gum treatment, tooth replacement, and cosmetic options—all working together to keep your smile healthy and strong.
