Does AARP Cover Dental Implants?

Does AARP Cover Dental Implants?
By Dr. Eastwood – Summerbrook Dental & Implants, Fort Worth, TX

Many patients ask me, “Does AARP cover dental implants?” The answer is that AARP itself does not directly pay for dental treatment. However, AARP offers access to dental insurance and discount plans through partnered companies, and those plans may or may not include coverage for implants.

Most standard dental insurance plans—whether through AARP or elsewhere—do not fully cover dental implants. They may cover part of the treatment, such as exams, X-rays, or the crown that goes on top of the implant, but the implant surgery itself is often excluded. Some upgraded or premium plans do offer partial implant coverage, so it’s always important to read the details of your policy.

AARP members can purchase a dental insurance plan or a dental discount plan through their program partners. Discount plans don’t provide insurance coverage but can reduce the cost of implant treatment by a certain percentage when you see a participating dentist.

At Summerbrook Dental & Implants, we work with patients who have AARP-related plans and help them understand what is and isn’t covered. Even if your plan doesn’t fully cover implants, we offer third-party financing options so you can spread out the cost. My team will be happy to check your benefits, explain your options, and create a treatment plan that works for your budget.

We are a no-judgment office—whether you have insurance, a discount plan, or are paying out-of-pocket, our goal is to help you get the care you need. Dental implants are an investment in your health, confidence, and quality of life, and we want to make the process as simple as possible.
